Propeller Repair Certification Training – The Basics of Propeller Repair & NMPA Suggested Operating Guidelines

This half-day workshop is for seasoned propeller repairers and rookies alike who are seeking to complete their NMPA Professional Certification. Participants will be guided through the NMPA Terms & Definitions study guide as well as the NMPA Suggested Operating Guidelines in preparation for on-site written exam testing later that same day. Passing the exam will allow attendees will leave prepared to take the next step in Certification which is the practical exam in aluminum propeller repair.

Repair Tolerance: NMPA Professional Standards & the Practical Reasons You Need to Know Them
  The NMPA Certification Committee in 2017 updated and approved the ‘Suggested Operating Guidelines’ which provide procedural guidance for individuals persuing NMPA Certification. Included for the first time are Acceptable Repair Tolerances which will be the focus of this session.

Welding is essential to the propeller repair process and propeller manufacturers are using different percentages, types and combinations of alloys to achieve strength and/or weight gains. This session will take an important look at expected compatibility of the current welding rods with “newer” alloys used Aluminum and Stainless Steel propeller castings.

Rarely ever does the customer’s analysis of boat performance issues fairly take all the dynamics and technical issues into consideration when there’s a problem. Customers will turn to propeller repair pros for a propeller that is a silver bullet to solve the problems they experience in boat performance. This session will discuss the relationship between factors like gear ratio, engine and propellers.
