NMPA Prop Talk – Ep.12: Virtual Member Town Hall – April 8, 2026
NMPA Hosts Virtual Town Hall on 2026 Membership Structure
The National Marine Propulsion Association recently hosted a Virtual Town Hall to introduce the upcoming 2026 membership structure, provide insight into the direction of the Association, and engage directly with members across the propulsion community.
The session brought together members from across the industry to hear from the Board of Directors and participate in an open discussion about the future of the Association and the role of membership moving forward.
Recognizing the Foundation of the Industry
The Town Hall opened by recognizing the professionals who built the propulsion service and repair industry. The Board emphasized that the Association was founded on skill, experience, and a commitment to doing things the right way—values that continue to define the industry today.
While the foundation remains strong, the Board acknowledged that the environment surrounding the industry is evolving, including changes in technology, workforce, materials, and customer expectations.
Why the Membership Structure Is Evolving
The Board shared that the updated membership structure is designed to ensure members remain connected, informed, and positioned for the future.
As the propulsion industry continues to evolve, staying aligned as a professional community becomes increasingly important. The Association’s role remains centered on supporting members through knowledge sharing, education, and industry connection.
Overview of the 2026 Membership Structure
The updated structure introduces four membership tiers to better reflect the full propulsion ecosystem:
- Technical Membership ($1,500):
Designed for active propulsion service, repair, and technical professionals. Includes access to training, technical resources, and two tickets to the Annual Marine Propulsion Expo (AMPE). - Associate Membership ($1,500):
For suppliers, vendors, and service partners supporting the industry, with a focus on connection, visibility, and access to industry knowledge. - Manufacturer Membership ($3,000):
For manufacturers and OEM partners, including direct engagement with the technical network and a basic AMPE sponsorship. - Legacy Membership ($150):
A newly introduced tier designed for retired professionals and former shop owners to remain connected to the Association and continue contributing their knowledge and experience to the industry.
The inclusion of AMPE participation within membership was also highlighted as a way to provide additional value and strengthen industry connection.
Bylaw Amendments Overview
The Board also presented a high-level overview of proposed bylaw amendments intended to align the Association with its expanded propulsion focus and updated membership structure.
Members will receive additional information, including full amendment details and the process for review and feedback.
Member Engagement and Open Discussion
The Town Hall concluded with a live Q&A session, where members had the opportunity to ask questions and share feedback. The discussion reinforced the importance of maintaining open communication and ensuring members feel informed and supported as these updates are implemented.
Looking Ahead: 2026 AMPE Announcement
During closing remarks, the Board announced that the 2026 Annual Marine Propulsion Expo (AMPE) is currently being planned for November 2026 at Circa Las Vegas. Members are encouraged to stay tuned for additional details and to plan to participate in this key industry event.
Moving Forward Together
The Town Hall served as an important step in maintaining transparency and strengthening connection across the propulsion community.
Members are encouraged to review the supplemental materials, stay engaged, and reach out with any questions or feedback.
As the industry continues to evolve, the Association remains committed to supporting propulsion professionals and ensuring a strong, connected future for the entire community.
