Professional Certification

Why Certify?

Certification showcases your commitment to meeting and exceeding industry standards in propeller repair, sales, and customer service. It empowers the boating public to confidently assess and choose qualified service providers.

What Certifications are Offered?

NMPA proudly promotes excellence in the propeller industry through its multi-level certification program. Members can earn certifications in Aluminum, Stainless, and Inboard propeller repair—each designed to recognize skill, precision, and professionalism. The NMPA Certification Committee has carefully developed course content and administers written and practical testing to high standards to ensure top-tier quality across the industry.

How do I Get Certified?

NMPA Certification: A Mark of Trust and Professionalism
Earning NMPA Certification means more than passing a test—it’s a clear commitment to excellence in propeller repair. Certified professionals must demonstrate both technical knowledge and hands-on skill by passing rigorous written and practical exams. A minimum score of 80% on the written test is required before advancing to the practical exam, where candidates must restore a damaged-injected propeller to match master blade geometry within the acceptable variance—no exceptions.

NMPA’s certification program is progressive and structured for growth. Technicians begin with Aluminum Certification, then advance to Stainless Steel, and finally qualify for Inboard Propeller Certification once both prior levels are achieved.

What Does It Mean?
It means the repair work will meet or exceed industry standards. It means shop management upholds a professional code of conduct. It means the technician has received specialized training for the products they service and sell. And most importantly, it means the business stands behind its workmanship, its products, and its commitment to customer satisfaction.
